Are You A Baby Christian, A Carnal Christian, Or A Spiritual Christian - an article by A.B.King

1 Corinthians 3:1 KJV
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

Apostle Paul is certainly someone who said what he was thinking as it is and never bothered to sugar - coat anything he wanted to say, no matter who he was saying it to.
His unique personally can be felt and seen in all the books he wrote even though he was writing under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost and not human ideologies.
The above scripture shows us 3 classifications of Christians Apostle Paul categorized Christians at different levels of growth into.
Most people through the years have looked at that scripture and categorized Christians into Two groups; Spiritual & Carnal.
They assume that Carnal & Baby Christian means the same thing.
However, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that even though 'Baby Christians' are 'Carnal' , Baby Christian is a category of its own. It's the lowest category denoted in that scripture.
You can tell the reason why Apostle Paul even mentioned it was because "Carnal Christian" was not enough to describe the people he was trying to describe, so he had to use another term to accurately describe the people he was trying to describe. Hence, Baby Christians.

A Breakdown Of The Three Primary Classifications Of Christians According To The Scriptures:

1) Spiritual Christian: this is the type of Christian whose mind is on spiritual things. This is the kind of Christian who sees things through the eyes of God's word. He or She sees things as God says it is.

1 Corinthians 2:15 AMP
But the spiritual man tries all things he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things, yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him.

2) Carnal Christian: this is the type of Christian whose mind is on earthly things. He is not committed to the leadership of the Holy Spirit or may have not even received the Holy Ghost.
He or She still thinks like the world.

1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them , because they are spiritually discerned.

3) Baby Christian: this is the type of Christian who cannot even understand Spiritual things.
Their spirits can only comprehend basic revelations and teachings in the scriptures. Their problem is they are trying to use their minds to understand or make sense of the scriptures instead of using their spirits (or their hearts) to just receive God's word.
Their solution for the Baby Christian is that he or she should first of all receive the Holy Ghost (if he or she doesn't already have the Holy Ghost seeing that it is possible to have the Holy Ghost and still be a Baby Christian), then he or she should start listening to the word of God from his or her spirit (or heart) not with their mind.
The Holy Spirit within a man or woman would help make that possible; where every word and teaching goes straight to the heart and mind, not just going to their mind alone like a new found philosophy or ideology.
Baby Christians have all the properties of Carnal Christians and are much worse.

1 Corinthians 3:2-3 KJV
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it , neither yet now are ye able. [3] For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

No Matter Which Of The Three Classes You Fall Into, How Do You Grow?:

By committing yourself to learning more about God's Word, believing every new revelation & discovery with all your heart, and also living the word out everyday.

Acts 20:32 KJV
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
